The Skyjack S46 AJ - Added Flexibility in the Standard for All-Purpose Boom-Lifts
The Skyjack S46 AJ is very near identical to its brother lift the S45T. They both have a similar reach, footprint, and handling properties, so what is the big deal about the S46 AJ?
The ‘AJ’ from S46 AJ actually stands for articulating jib. An articulating jib is simply a fancy way of saying that the jib is broken into 2 sections, and hinges at an elbow.
If this machine has the same reach as its S45T brother, then why on earth would Skyjack bother to put out a whole other model?
What makes an articulating jib so useful isn’t any extended reach or capacity. It allows the operator to navigate up and over obstacles that would cause a non-articulating jib to become ‘boom-bound’, which we will talk about more below. First though, some specs.

This boom actually comes in at 52 feet 3 inches. This machine is still a great option for commercial and residential applications with the added ability to navigate up and over obstacles such as fences, retaining walls, awnings, or other buildings.
