What is an LGMG T65 Telescopic Boom Lift and What Kind of Jobs is it Good For?

The T65J is a diesel-powered boom lift that is able to scope its arm in and out. At a broad level, it is well suited to jobs that require a substantial amount of reach but don’t necessarily have a lot of space to offer.

In this article, we are going to go into a little bit about some of the applications, strengths and challenges that come with the LGMG T65

Telescopic boom lift. First, let’s take a look at some of this rugged machine’s main features, as listed by the manufacturer.

  • Designed with a strong fuel flow which allows this machine to power its way up hills
  • Built Tough, for maximum powerful performance
  • Engineered with a precise pressure sensor system to ensure accurate readings and operator safety
  • A communication system is built-in with simple (reliable) wiring
  • Advanced control system for diagnostics and capabilities and other important information

Basic, Solid & Reliable. Simple Is Beautiful

Depending on the configuration of the boom lifts, they can be somewhat complex to operate. Some other brands that will remain nameless are somewhat famous for their hieroglyphic-like controls. LGMG makes a sturdy, basic machine that is built to be used.

For those who may be new or simply unfamiliar, a boom lift is a man lift that typically comes equipped with larger tires and a basket affixed to a long boom. This makes it more ideal for outdoor applications than say an electric scissor lift.

Stability is the name of the game when it comes to almost any machine that lifts. This machine uses a large counterweight in a similar fashion to a mobile crane or forklift. This means it doesn’t need to park right under where it is working which offers advantages over a rough terrain scissor lift when working on areas above obstacles. Just reach right over and get to work.

This machine will get you about 65’ up in the air. Aside from all of the fancy-sounding features listed (and more) above this machine is about as rudimental as a boom lift gets.

It will take 551 lbs. up in the basket which is just enough for 2 men and a light load of tools. It doesn’t come with an articulating (hinged – goes one way and then jackknifes back on itself) boom, which is great for newer operators, who tend to get overwhelmed by multiple boom sections moving in different directions.

Suitable Jobs

You’ll find this size of a boom lift handles anything up to about mid-rise height. This makes it ideal for concrete work on this size of the building. The nice thing about this machine is it has a fantastic reach, but not too much of a footprint. You will be able to maneuver this size of a lift around most commercial and residential jobsites quite easily, depending on the particular circumstances, of course.

The real advantage to a boom lift such as this one is its ability to circumnavigate obstacles.

That means if you have a building that is surrounded by hedges or excavation for example. When you need to work on or gain access to work at height, this machine is your best friend. The sensor system allows you to work on fairly uneven terrain, making this tough man lift an ideal choice for construction sites of all sizes.
