The JLG 860SJ 4WD telescopic boom lift is the right piece of equipment if you need to get up much higher and with more horizontal reach normally offered by other types of lifts.
With a maximum platform height of 86 ft / 26.21m and a horizontal outreach of 75 ft / 22.86m, you will be able to easily clear a two-story building. Although this is one of the longer boom lifts available, the 860SJ only takes 70 seconds to reach full extension, and it comes with both a diesel engine and a dual fuel engine for improved fuel efficiency and lowered emissions, making it perfect for electricians, plumbers, construction work, and any other type of labor where you need to safely reach up high and over any obstacles where other types of lifts can’t.
You can easily raise or lower the boom from the platform using the proportional controller, and even steer the 860SJ while the boom is fully extended to ensure that you can quickly get into the right position without going down and up over and over. The platform can also rotate up to 180 degrees to give you the best access to difficult to reach spots.

The 860SJ is designed for improved traction since the front axle automatically oscillates when driving over rough terrain with the counterweight over the steer tires. The 4WD coupled with the hydraulic piston 2-speed motors and spring-applied brakes further enhance the 4WD traction.
When the boom is stowed, the maximum height of the 860SJ reaches 10 ft / 3.05m with a length of 40 ft / 12.19m and a width of 8 ft 2” / 2.49m. And with a weight of 36888 lb. / 16732.12 kg, transporting one will not require an overweight permit, however transporting two at a time most likely will. It also has a ground clearance of 11” / 0.28m allowing it to easily move about the worksite with a 45% 4WD gradeability. One of the defining features of the 860SJ is that the platform controls are designed for one-handed operation so that operators have more comfort, control, and a simpler operating experience.
