What is a Genie GS-1930 E Electric Scissor Lift and What Type of Jobs is it Good For?
Access - Flawless
This kind of man lift is going to be well suited to customers with access issues. In this article, we take a look at some of the strengths and challenges that make this scissor lift a very useful piece of machinery.
For those who may be unfamiliar, a scissor lift or slab scissor lift, in this case, is a man lift that operates as a mobile platform. It is like an elevator on small wheels which are like casters with rubber. Slab scissor lifts such as this one, are, as the name would suggest, designed to work off of a concrete floor.
They require access within arm’s reach of the work above, or 3 – 4 feet from the front if extending the platform. That extendable platform comes in handy in a machine of this size, which doesn’t have the largest footprint. At roughly 2.5 x 6 feet, this little workhorse banks on agility.
This makes it well suited for environments such as warehouses or concrete slabs. Being electric, these lifts are particularly well-suited to indoor environments. As such, Genie – a manufacturer brand name that is synonymous with man-lifts has designed this nimble little scissor lift to be extremely maneuverable.
These machines have a zero inside turning radius so they literally can turn on a dime. Let’s say a quarter, to be safe. When it comes to logistics and warehousing, not only is time money but space. The more inventory a warehouse can pack into the confines of its borders, the more it can move and the more money there is to be made.
As such, the narrow aisle challenge has meant that machinery has been redesigned for extreme agility. The Genie GS 1930 E is a perfect example of a machine that was designed to produce great results in a narrow aisle warehouse environment.
Many electric scissor lifts will perform very well in the somewhat harsher, climate-exposed environment that is construction. Being a smaller machine, its advantage here is again in its maneuverability, but that means that the work may dictate a larger lift. The 1930 is small and nimble, but it isn’t necessarily the best option for heavier, more physical work like stripping forms or connecting beams.
This machine is made for tight access challenges and excels in a light-duty warehousing or production environment. It has a maximum working height of 25 feet which will get a worker up to most standard racking.
The other nice thing about this machine in terms of working in a warehouse – it easily fits through standard or double-sized doors. Have you ever been in a warehouse that didn’t have a bay door between sections? Not a problem for this lift – as you can see, bigger is not always better.
